Gordon says Senate to continue probe amid Duterte threats

Senator Richard Gordon said that they will continue to probe the anomalous transactions of Pharmally amid the tirades of President Rodrigo Duterte against senators.

Gordon, who is the chairperson of the Senate blue ribbon committee which is handling the investigation, said that Duterte should’ve asked Yang regarding his links with Pharmally.

“Ipagtatanggol pa niya yung mga kaibigan niya at sisiraan pa niya ang co-equal branch of government. Di ko maintindihan e, bakit ganoon. At pagka masyado kang nagpupumiglas, ibig sabihin, maaaring may tinatago ka,” Gordon said.

Gordon said these questions push senators to uncover more about the multi-billion worth of deals with Pharmally.

“Hindi naman ako nag-imbestigasyon para tindigan ko siya e. Nag imbestigasyon ako dahil we are sworn to find out yung mga accountable officers kung they serve the people,” he added.

Gordon’s statement came following the President’s taped address Tuesday.

Duterte said he would campaign against the latter in next year’s national elections “for being unfit to be a senator”.

“I would like to remind Senator Gordon na I will campaign against you for being unfit to be a senator of this Republic,” he said.

Duterte also earlier mocked Gordon’s weight and lengthy interpellations during the Senate’s probe on the national government’s spending of COVID-19 funds.
