Senator Imee Marcos believes that the tandem of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and former Senator Bongbong Marcos will be a ‘marriage made in heaven’.
In an interview on ABS-CBN, Imee said that Bongbong would be honored to become Sara’s running mate in the next year’s polls.
“Everything’s possible but I suppose the most obvious thing is if the Dutertes have a solid south, we’re assumed to have the solid north. Parang marriage made in heaven yan,” Imee said.
“Political wisdom says if you look at the numbers, it looks good, looks like a really solid tandem,” she added.
Bongbong has confirmed that he will run in 2022 but has yet to decide on which post.
Bongbong lost the vice-presidential race against Leni Robredo in 2016.
“He’s also perfectly happy to run in the Senate. We just keep joking him he needs to do something,” Imee said.
Imee insists the country needs the Dutertes in the middle of a COVID-19 pandemic.
“I think many of the President’s men will be bad for the country. But I personally feel that we need the Dutertes. It’s their kind of warrior spirit that will get us through this war against COVID,” the senator added.
