Dubai extends some expats residency visas until December 9 — report

Dubai has automatically extended the expiring visas of some expatriates affected by COVID-19 restrictions until December 9, 2021.

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA), however, has yet to confirm who qualifies for the visa extension.

According to a report of Khaleej Times, those stranded abroad with expired visas have been granted an automatic renewal on their expired residency visas until December 9.

They will also be given a one-month grace period.

“However, before traveling into the UAE, they need to apply for a pre-travel GDRFA approval and adhere to all other RT-PCR testing protocols set by the government,” a source told the report.

Some travel agents who have stranded clients in India and Pakistan also confirmed the extension of visas.

The agencies however clarified that the visa extension is only given to Dubai residency visa holders.

Residents who stayed outside UAE in the last six months are also allowed to return.
