Eight family members of the index Delta variant case in Addas 2C village in Bacoor, Cavite have tested positive for COVID-19, according to Mayor Lani Mercado said on Tuesday.
Mercado said they are monitoring a total of at least 30 COVID-19 cases in two villages for possible cases of the more virulent Delta variant.
The COVID-19 patients were all linked to two index Delta variant cases in the villages of Addas 2C and El Grande.

“Sa Addas 2C na may isang index patient na reported, pina swab namin yung 10 na magkakasama dun sa bahay, unfortunately, 9 out of 10 [kasama yung index case] nag (turne) positive,” Mercado said.
Aside from these cases, another nine people in the same village also tested positive for COVID-19 which brings the total to 18 cases.
The Bacoor mayor said 12 more individuals in El Grande also yielded positive for Covid-19 after undergoing antigen test on Monday.

She said they still have to wait for the genome sequencing test results for confirmation.
In the meantime, Mercado said the granular lockdown in El Grande and Addas 2C has been extended until August 9 and 10, respectively, affecting 80 households.
