Abu Dhabi Police have issued a warning for the public against scammers claiming to be from the UAE Central Bank and asking for bank details.
The authority said the calls were about a bogus text message allegedly coming from Abu Dhabi Police to prove the authenticity of the call from the federal authority.
The said message contains a link that will lead to a website where they phish out the bank details of the victims.

Abu Dhabi Police called on people not to fall prey from these scammers purporting as legitimate Central Bank UAE.
The force further said that banks and their staff do not ask for bank details of their clients.
Disclosing confidential information with anyone, including bank account data and online banking passwords will put your data in jeopardy.

The Central Bank earlier cautioned the public against responding to fraudulent emails and internet postings claiming they are from the federal authority.
“The CB UAE is not a retail bank and we do not carry out transactions or hold funds of the members of the public,” it said.
Meanwhile, the police encouraged the public to report scam calls by reporting it to a police station, contact the Aman security service number at 800 2626 or through text at 2828. (RA)
