The Philippine government is looking at crossing the 6-million mark in its COVID-19 vaccination program this week, noting that the country has registered over 10 million COVID-19 vaccine jabs expected to arrive this June, according to vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr.
The increased vaccine stock ensured inoculating 4 million to 5 million more people, with total vaccination figures expected to reach 6 million by this week, he said while highlighting the government target for this month at four to five million vaccinations.

The government will begin vaccinating its fourth priority group (A4), the working population, or economic frontliners from June 7.
It also plans to administer 500,000 jabs daily by the third quarter of the year. This will increase to 740,000 shots a day according to Secretary Galvez, affirming that the government will reach its target, with the bulk of its vaccine supply arriving by July.
Earlier, one million doses of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Manila on Sunday morning.
Around 100,000 Sputnik V jabs are due to arrive on June 8, apart from 2.2 million doses of Pfizer coming from the global COVAX facility on June 10, and 2 million AstraZeneca jabs from COVAX expected this month. (AW)
