Honest PCG personnel returns Php185K cash, cellphone to OFW

An OFW returning from Saudi Arabia would have probably lost a whopping amount of P185,000 cash and a cellphone if an honest man had not found and returned it back to its owner.

That man was Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Seaman Second Class (SN2) Ramir Greg Locsin, who returned the lost wallet containing P185,000 and a cellular phone to its owner OFW Joliza Wanason.

Locsin found the two items while on duty at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), according to Commander Jimmy Oliver Vingno, PCG Task Force Unit Airport One-Stop Shop (OSS) commander at the NAIA Terminal 1.

Locsin, who belongs to the coast guard, was honoured by the PCG on June 3 for his honesty.

“Locsin’s dedication to his tasks, professionalism, devotion, and integrity to public service significantly contributed to the pride of this unit and the whole Philippine Coast Guard organization,” Commander Vingno stated.

OFW Wanason also expressed her gratitude at not losing her hard-earned savings – thanks to the PCG personnel who “exhibited impressive professionalism, especially in this time of the pandemic.” (AW)
