Filipinos around the world were amazed upon the new look of the Philippines’ San Juanico bridge when it lit up during its dry run last October 10, Saturday.
The lighting project forms part of the plans headed by the Department of Tourism and the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority for the bridge that connects Samar and Leyte.
Stretching for 2.16 kilometers, the San Juanico Bridge also acts as an important gateway for trade, tourism, and connectivity among Filipino residents.
The Philippine government aspires that the project will spark positivity and hope amid the COVID-19 pandemic especially nowadays that tourism is slowly picking up once again in the country.
“The San Juanico Bridge Test Lighting last night serves as a beacon of hope for the Province of Samar and the whole Eastern Visayas amidst these trying times. I am happy to share the good news to the rest of my fellow Samarnons that we are slowly opening our sites through a visual and virtual feast. You can now witness the restart of Spark Samar,” said Congresswoman Sharee Ann Tan of the 2nd District of Province of Samar.
