The barangay chairman and barangay treasurer in Dasmariñas City in Cavite who were caught having sex while waiting for a remote meeting via Zoom have resigned, Dasmariñas City Association of Barangay Captains president Jorge Magno confirmed.
“Si barangay chairman nag-resign na po para sa ikatatahimik po ng lahat, Humihingi po siya ng pang-unawa at pasensya sa lahat na ganoon ang nangyari,” Magno said.
Meanwhile,the Department of Interior and Local Government said investigation into the incident involving the two barangay officials is underway.
Witnesses sent the photo of the barangay captain and the treasure doing their intimate acts prior to the zoom session.
“This is very unfortunate dahil napanood ng barangay and at the same time nangyari sa barangay hall,” DILG spokesperson Jonathan Malaya told Ted Failion on DZMM Teleradyo.

Malaya said that they have already tapped their regional offices and checked if any violations were made on the code of conduct for public officials.
“Pa-iimbestigahan sa ating regional offices kung ano yung mga posibleng violation dahil ito ay conduct unbecoming of public official,” Malaya added.
Malaya said that public officials should abide by the code of conduct set by the law on how they should behave in public. The DILG official however did not disclose the possibility of an “accident”.
“Hindi pa ino-on ang kanyang cellphone mukhang napindot niya at napindot ang kanyang cellphone and nangyari nga yun. Mukhang aksidente ang nangyari,” he said.
