Brgy. Tanod in Cebu graduates cum laude in civil engineering

A civil engineering student who works part-time as a community patroller graduates as cum laude.

Janryll Tan, a Cebu resident, has been an inspiration to his classmates and teachers for never neglecting his studies while serving as a peace enforcer in their Barangay Kalubihan.

Tan, who graduated valedictorian in elementary and high school, said he realized early in life the need to strive in school in order to pull his family out of poverty.

Tan’s father also serves as a peace enforcer while offering transport services with his motorcycle from time to time.

Tan is now aiming to be a licensed civil engineer. He advised other working-students never to give up on challenges, emphasizing balancing time between work and school is possible, as what he had shown when he graduated with Latin honors
