Batangas Representative Vilma Santos has filed another bill seeking to renew the franchise of embattled network ABS-CBN.
House Bill 8298 hopes to give the Kapamilya network another 25 year franchise which was revoked by the House of Representatives last year under the leadership of ousted House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano.
Santos filed the bill weeks after Senate President Tito Sotto made a similar move at the Senate.
Sotto said that the new leadership at the lower house gives the franchise bill a new chance to be passed.
Santos also hope that under Velasco, the Kapamilya network will be given another chance to operate.
In a speech on Monday night, President Rodrigo Duterte said that all franchise applicants should settle all their obligations first with the government before getting a new one.
The president however did not mention if he is pertaining to ABS-CBN. (TDT)
