K-Pop group member bashed over COVID-19-related April Fools’ prank

A member of a K-Pop group was criticized for saying he had been stricken with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as an April Fool’s Day prank, Reuters reported.
Kim Jae-joong, a member of South Korean band JYJ, posted his prank on his Instagram account—that has 1.9 million followers—and then deleted it afterwards.
He edited his post saying that he had gone too far for “April Fools’ Day.”
He also thanked his fans, who got worried about him because of his post.

“I don’t think of this as an April Fool’s prank...I wanted to tell you that protecting yourself is protecting the precious people around you,” Kim said.
South Korean officials had earlier warned against making such pranks.
The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) reported 101 new cases on Wednesday, bringing the national tally to 9,887. The death toll rose by eight to 169.
