Ex-teen Pinoy actor sentenced to life in prison for rape, child abuse of minor

A former member of the now defunct TV show “That’s Entertainment” has been sentenced to reclusion perpertua or life imprisonment after he was found guilty of 15 counts of rape and sentenced to reclusion perpetua or life imprisonment.
It was in 2002 that Dennis Da Silva was arrested for raping the 14-year-old child of his former live-in partner.
He was also sentenced to four to six years in prison for four counts of child abuse, ordered to pay the victim more than more than P4 million, which includes at least P100,000 for each civil indemnity, moral damages, and exemplary damages or P300,000 for every count of rape, GMA News reported.

Da Silva can apply for a conditional pardon and community or good conduct time allowance, but he first has to pay all the damages.
Da Silva was given 15 days to appeal to the court’s decision.
The former teen actor has been detained at the Pasig City Jail for 17 years or the duration of his trial.
He denied the charges saying that he and the minor were in a relationship.
