Filipinos are already hyped up with the upcoming concert of Journey’s frontman and Filipino singing sensation Arnel Pineda as he’s about to rock the Dubai World Trade Centre this coming June 14!
Here are some interesting trivia to learn about Pineda:
Radio Favorite. Pineda’s voice caught the ears of Warner Bros. record label which led him to record a self-titled solo album that led to two of his popular hits. One of the songs, “Iiyak Ka Rin” (“You Will Cry Too“) became a karaoke favorite in Asia, while another song “Sayang” (“Too Bad“) became a radio favorite.
Youtube Star. In 2007, videos of Arnel Pineda together with his band, The Zoo, were uploaded on the video-sharing platform, Youtube. Arnel was seen performing cover songs by popular bands like Aerosmith, Air Supply, Journey, and more. Journey’s Neal Schon contacted Noel Gomez who uploaded majority of the videos to ask Pineda to audition as Journey’s new frontman, and the rest is history.
14. 14 is a special number for Pineda as it takes him back to his younger days, trying to survive on his own – following his beloved mother’s illness that put a strain in his family’s financial situation. This led Arnel to launch his own foundation in the Philippines, Arnel Pineda Foundation, Inc. (APFI) to address the plight of kids to give them a brighter future through providing education.
