Bonoy Gonzaga, the father of celebrity sisters Toni and Alex Gonzaga, was not able to get enough votes to win the mayoralty race in Taytay, Rizal.

Bonoy placed second to incumbent Mayor Joric Gacula with only 38,301 votes.

Gacula is on the lead with 55,545 votes, based on the 90.86% of election returns (partial and unofficial) from Taytay as of 5:53 PM, Tuesday.

After falling behind his opponent, Bonoy’s daughters took to their respective social media accounts to express their love and undying support to their father.

“We are so proud of you. You fought a good fight daddy. Praise God for everything! He will never leave you nor forsake you,” Alex wrote on her Instagram Story while showing a photo of her father.

She also tweeted a message to the messages who voted for her father which reads: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. God is GOOD all the TIME. Thank you to all your messages to still show your LOVE and support.”

For her part, Toni also shared a series of appreciation posts for Bonoy on her Instagram Stories.
