KZ Tandingan reveals secrets of her signature rap style

If there are two things that distinguish KZ Tandingan from the rest of the singers out there these days, it’s the sincere emotions that spring out of her beautiful voice, as well as her distinct rap style!

KZ spoke to The Filipino Times days before her upcoming “Supreme: KZ Tandingan Concert in Dubai” happening this coming March 22 at the Dubai World Trade Centre Arena at a digital press conference organized by La Verdad Events Management where she shared a few of her secrets that have helped her develop her rapping skills.

“Do it slowly muna, and then pag nakuha mo na kung paano siya sabihin kung ano ung pronounciation ng lahat ng mga words, that’s when you speed it up a little bit, tapos pag medyo kaya mo na, bilisan mo na ulit,” shared KZ as she emphasized the importance of proper pronunciation and speed of the delivery of the verses.

Speed isn’t everything

However, she was also quick to note that speed should not hinder the performer in delivering the message of the song as it is of equal importance to maintain a proper rhythm through the use of a metronome. “Sobrang nakakatulong kung mayroon kayo ng metronome para nalalaman niyo kung nasa tiyempo pa rin kayo,”

Asia’s Soul Supreme admits that she also has problems during live performances and that keeping tabs with her band helps her get her rhythm back. “Kasi ako problema ko din yun lalo na pag live performance, masyado akong gigil mag rap so minsan, nauuna ako so sobrang importante yun na pag nakuha mo na yung klarong pag bigkas ng mga words, that you keep the pace and the timing. The groove and that you always listen to the drummer, the percussionist na nagbibigay sa yo ng bilis at ng tiyempo ng rap,”

The concert, organized by La Verdad Events Management, will be taken to the next level with performances from singer-songwriter TJ Monterde and R&B singer Jay-R.

Tickets are now available at Platinumlist.net, UAE Exchange and at 7-Eleven stores in the UAE.
