Cause of comedian Chokoleit’s death revealed

The late comedian Chokoleit succumbed to pulmonary edema and heart attack, according to his attending physician Dr. Rosauro Seares.

Contrary to reports and social media posts that he was taken to a hospital in Vigan, which is more than an hour away from Abra, the governor of the province on Sunday confirmed to ABS CBN News that the comedian was rushed to the Abra Provincial Hospital but was pronounced dead moments after.

The governor also thanked the late comedian for his “utmost level of professionalism”.

Pulmonary edema is fluid accumulation in the tissue and air spaces of the lungs. It may lead to fatal respiratory distress or cardiac arrest due to hypoxia, especially acute.

His sudden death shocked the local showbusiness world after his performance at Kawayan Festival in Abra on Saturday, March 9.

According to reports, the comedian experienced difficulty in breathing. In a statement, Star Magic said: “Details are still being gathered. Chokoleit was performing in an out of town show in Abra, and experienced difficulty in breathing after his performance.”

In a video uploaded by Abra Province FB page, the comedian can be seen struggling to catch his breath.

Some netizens also uploaded a video of his last performance. They pointed out that his last words seem to be a premonition of his demise.

Carl Guevarra uploaded a video of the comedian’s last word with a caption: “Chokoleit’s last words are chilling. Still can’t believe how life just passes by. Hope this helps us appreciate life and our loved ones. RIP.”
