Fil-Am R&B singer H.E.R. bags awards at 2019 Grammys

Filipino-American R&B singer Gabriella Wilson, better known by her stage name H.E.R., was among the biggest names in the music industry who attended the 61st Annual Grammy Awards, held on February 10 (US Time) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

The 21-year-old singer won big during the event after winning Best R&B Performance for her song “Best Part”; and Best R&B Album for her self-titled compilation album.

Aside from taking home two awards, H.E.R. was also nominated for three other categories namely Best New Artist, Album of the Year, and Best R&B Song.

During the event, H.E.R. was also one of the performers and sang the song “Hard Place”.

H.E.R., born to a Filipina mother and an African-American father, was raised in San Francisco Bay Area. She started her career by covering songs of Alicia Keys before competing on Radio Disney’s The Next BIG Thing when she was 12 years old.

The Grammy Awards, or simply the Grammys, is one of the four most prestigious honors in Hollywood which recognizes a person’s achievement in the music industry. Other major awards in Hollywood include the Academy Awards for film, Emmy Awards for television, and Tony Awards for theater.
