VIRAL: UAE Expat translates Catriona Gray’s Miss Universe Q and A response to Davaoeño

The euphoric feeling of the Philippines’ most recent triumph of claiming this year’s Miss Universe 2018 crown continues as TFT Lifestyle TV host Dan on the Go, posted a fan-made translation of Catriona Gray’s winning statement.

The post reads:

“Nagwork jud ako ng sobra sa mga slums sa Tondo, Manila and kahirap jud ng life dun ay swear tapos maka sad gani sya. Pero giteach ko man ang self ko na magtingin sa beautiful na side, na magtingin sa kaganda gud ng faces ng mga kids at maging grateful” (I work a lot in the slums of Tondo, Manila, and the life there is very poor and very sad. I’ve always taught myself to look for the beauty in it, to look for the beauty in the faces of the children, and to be grateful.)

“Dalahin ko talaga ito na aspect as a Miss Universe para makita gud nila ang situations with a silver lining, and para maka assess ako kung saan ako maka-give ng something, kung saan makabigay ako ng something as a spokesperson.” (I would bring this aspect as a Miss Universe to see situations with a silver lining, and to assess where I could give something, where I could provide something as a spokesperson.)

“If pwede ko ma teach sa people na maging grateful, possible talaga na magkaroon tayo ng amazing na world ban a di gani mag grow ang negativity and foster, tapos ang mga kids kay magkaroon ng smiles sa face.” (If I could teach also people to be grateful, we could have an amazing world where negativity could not grow and foster, and children would have a smile on their face. Thank you.)

As of press time, the viral photo now has almost 7,000 shares as Davaeños themselves share their take on the translated response.
