Salonga played Erzulie, the Goddess of Love, in the revival of the award-winning musical play “Once On This Island” from November 2017 to June 2018.

Her voice is heard in most of the songs of the production’s soundtrack, but her vocal prowess truly shined in the song “The Human Heart”.

Salonga said she couldn’t believe the news and that she had to go to the Grammy Awards’ website to confirm.

“Has to actually go to Grammy.com to see if it was true. And it’s true! I am officially a Grammy nominee!” she said.

The Grammy Awards, or simply the Grammys, is one of the four most prestigious honors in Hollywood which recognizes a person’s achievement in the music industry. Other major awards in Hollywood include the Academy Awards for film, Emmy Awards for television, and Tony Awards for theater.

In case Salonga will win her Grammy nomination, she will already have two out of the four major Hollywood awards.
