Amado Cruz denies sexual harassment claims of Miss Earth candidates

The Miss Earth sponsor who was accused of harassing some of the pageant’s candidates has spoken up about the allegations against him.

It can be recalled that the representatives of Canada, England, and Guam all took to Instagram to share their experiences with one of the sponsors of the pageant who asked sexual favors from them. Miss Guam even revealed the identity of the said sponsor saying that it was Amado Cruz.

After the beauty queen’s revelation, photos of Cruz have circulated online with many netizens criticizing him for what he allegedly did to the candidates of the Philippine-organized pageant.

In a report aired on TV Patrol on November 9, Cruz strongly denied the sexual harassment claims against him.

He said that he only wanted to help the pageant by promoting tourism in the Philippines and added that one part of his sponsorship was the dinner held at the Manila Yacht Club.

Cruz also said that he doesn’t understand why the candidates put malice in what he did for the pageant.

The accused pageant sponsor also thanked Miss Earth Cuba Monica Aguilar for defending him. Aguilar testified against the claims of her former candidates saying that no form of sexual harassment took place.

He also said that he is now seeking legal actions regarding the issue. However, Cruz is now declared as “forever banned” in the Miss Earth pageant.

In another report aired on GMA News TV’s State of the Nation, a staff member of Cruz said that her boss has been sponsoring the Miss Earth pageant for years now and that he could never sexually harass any candidate.

“Hindi magagawa ng amo ko ‘yan, e. Alam mo kung bakit? Si Sir ay napakatanda na at mahina na rin, una sa lahat. Kung nagawa man niya yun, sana noon pa nung nagsimulag magkaroon ng Miss Earth dito,” Jhana Bueno said.
