GMA personalities receive recognition at Int’l Film Festival of Manhattan 2018

Kapuso actor Ruru Madrid and GMA reporter Mariz Umali were among the personalities who received honorable mentions at the International Film Festival of Manhattan (IFFM) 2018.

Madrid received the said honorable mention for his role in a “Magpakailanman” episode titled “Takbo ng Buhay”, wherein he played Renson Embradura, the “one-legged long-distance runner”.

Meanwhile, Umali was recognized for her “I-Witness” documentary titled “Behind the Banquet” wherein she covered the process of preparing meals served in luxury buffets. She even took on the role of an apprentice in a buffet restaurant in Taguig City.

Madrid and Umali’s honorable mentions were only two of the 11 awards received by Filipinos at the IFFM 2018. Other awardees include Baby Go who received the Lifetime Achievement Award, Harlene Bautista who was given the Best Student Film Award, and Andi Eigenmann who won the Best Actress Award.

The IFFM 2018 was held in New York City, USA from October 17-21, while the awarding ceremony was held at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Center on October 18.

Madrid and Umali were not able to attend the ceremony but GMA International East Coast consultant Grace Labaguis received the awards in their behalf.
