Former child star now sells food by the railway after failed showbiz career

Former child star Rhed Bustamante might still be young but she had already experienced dramatic changes in her life after the limelight.

In an interview with Korina Sanchez’s weekly lifestyle show “Rated K”, Bustamante said that her family started to struggle financially when television and movie projects stopped coming her way.

Bustamante appeared on several shows from 2010 until 2016. Some of her notable works include the ABS-CBN afternoon series “FlordeLiza” and the GMA-7 primetime series “Endless Love”.

She also appeared on a number of films including “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin” and “Maria Leonora Teresa”.

One of her last showbiz projects was the Erik Matti horror film “Seklusyon” in 2016.

Since then, Bustamante has not received any other offers. She said in the interview that she felt hurt that her showbiz career did not prosper as she expected that the turnout would be different.

“Yung mga batang tulad ko, nag-e-expect po kami. Huwag po tayo mag-e-expect masyado kasi masakit po pag hindi siya nangyari. Katulad ng in-expect ko na pag nag-artista ka, okay lahat. Pero hindi po pala,” she said.

She narrated that, due to financial constrictions, they were kicked out of the house they were renting causing their family to move to Meycauayan, Bulacan.

The young actress even said that they even experienced having their electricity cut off because they were not able to pay their bills.

She also said that her family is now having a hard time generating income to pay their monthly house rent worth P6,000 because her father cannot work due to lung complications.

Bustamante and her mother have resorted to selling food by the railway in Sampaloc, Manila.

“Mahirap po isipin kasi ganun talaga ang buhay po. Minsan hindi ko na rin alam kung anong gagawin para makatulong sa pamilya ko po,” she said.

Bustamante added that she would like to have a second shot at show business to help her family.

“Opportunity rin po kasi yun para medyo makaraos din po. Wish ko po may makatulong sa akin para sa pag-aaral naming tatlong magkakapatid,” she said.

Bustamante, currently a 6th grade student, said that the money she will be getting from her showbiz career, in case she will be given the chance to return, will help her and her siblings with their school expenses.
