Here’s Regine’s reply to basher implying she committed adultery after marrying Ogie

Ogie Alcasid took to Twitter on June 10 to stand up for his wife Regine Velasquez after the latter posted a series of tweets criticizing President Rodrigo Duterte’s tirades about God and the Catholic faith.

Velasquez posted on her Twitter account on July 7 a series of tweets asking President Duterte to spare God and other religious comments from his speeches.

“Nalulungkot na talaga ako. Hindi ako mahilig makialam sa mga ganito pero Mr. President kuha na po namin na hindi kayo naniniwala kay God,” Velasquez wrote through a series of tweets.

“Pero marami po sa amin ang naniniwala sa kanya. Hindi naman po namumulitika si God kaya wag na po natin siya idamay,” she added.

While many agreed with the Asia’s Songbird, there were also some netizens, especially those who support the president, who said that she should no longer meddle with political matters.

In one of Velasquez’s Instagram posts, one netizen questioned her religious views by implying malice in her marriage with Alcasid.

“Yes, you love God but you do not follow His rule. Matthew 5:32, whoever marries a divorced man or woman commits adultery, and Jesus said better not to marry,” the netizen said.

Before Alcasid tied the knot with Velasquez, he was formerly married to Australian acrtress and model Michelle van Eimeren.

Velasquez replied to the netizen by saying, “It is because I’m a sinner, but my God is so much bigger than my sins. I asked for forgiveness and I have accepted Jesus as my personal saviour. God bless you.”

Alcasid defended her wife through his own Twitter account by saying, “I will defend the views of my wife with the love of God.”

He also shared a religious post on his Instagram account which reads, “Dear Jesus, we rest upon the knowledge that you shall overcome those who wage war against you. We pray that we may keep sharing the gospel to dispel the unbelief in this world. Bless them Lord and open their eyes. In your name we pray!”

He also shared another photo which he said was a “daily reminder for husbands”.

Daily reminder for us husbands. Love you @reginevalcasid
