President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called on Filipinos to “look beyond our personal desires” and embrace sacrifice, humility, and devotion as the country joined the Muslim faithful in observing Eid’l Adha, or the Feast of the Sacrifice.
In his Eid’l Adha message, Marcos said the celebration reminds the public of the story of Prophet Ibrahim and the “power of unwavering faith, complete submission to Allah’s will, and trust in a purpose greater than ourselves.”
“The occasion calls us to look beyond our personal desires and to recognize that true fulfillment is found in obedience, humility, and devotion,” the President said.
Marcos emphasized that Eid’l Adha carries a message that resonates with people of all faiths and backgrounds, saying sacrifice offered with sincerity and love becomes “a source of profound strength.”
“It is transformed into blessings that enrich our homes, strengthen our communities, and elevate our shared humanity,” he said.
The President also underscored the role of selflessness in promoting unity and justice in society.
“Through selflessness, we build bridges of understanding, heal divisions, and create a more just society,” Marcos said.
He added that he hopes the observance would inspire Filipinos to deepen their reflection and strengthen their commitment to compassion and unity.
“Let us carry the spirit of Eid’l Adha into our daily lives and offer our own acts of generosity in building a more compassionate and inclusive Bagong Pilipinas,” he said.
Earlier, Malacañang declared May 27 a holiday for the observance of Eid’l Adha.
