WATCH: First look at ‘Meteor Garden’ remake

Fans of the Taiwanese hit series ‘Meteor Garden’ will be able to relive some memories from the past after the trailer of its 2018 remake has been recently released.

The show, which originally aired during the early 2000s, became highly popular in the Philippines. It follows the story of a girl named Shan Cai who finds herself being the apple of the eye of four students, known as the F4, from well-off families at her university.

The modern remake of Meteor Garden will feature Chinese actress Shen Yue who will take on the iconic female protagonist, Shan Cai, reported ABS-CBN.

The new F4 will be portrayed by a much-younger set of male leads consisting of Dylan Wang, Darren Cheng, Connor Leong, and Caesar Wu; they will be portraying Dao Ming Si, Hua Ze Lei, Mei Zuo, and Xi Men, respectively.

The remake, which is still an adaptation of the Japanese manga, Hana Yori Dango, was produced by the 2001 version’s producer, Angie Chai, added ABS-CBN.

As early as now, fans of Meteor Garden are excited for the release of its modern remake which will premiere some time later this year.

ABS-CBN previously announced that it earned the rights for the remake of Meteor Garden. Even though there are no specific dates yet on when it will air on the Philippines, fans can expect that will be shown on the Kapamilya network.

The remake reportedly has a massive budget of US$23.74 million, which is 30 times larger than its 2001 predecessor.
