Robin Padilla sells his expensive cars to help Marawi victims

Action superstar Robin Padilla is making good use of his celebrity status as he surprised his Instagram followers when he uploaded photos of his expensive cars for sale to raise funds to help victims of the Marawi conflict.

On Monday, Padilla posted photos of his customised RV (recreational van) and Humvee, with the intent to sell them to help provide clean water for his Muslim brothers and sisters displaced by the war in Mindanao and are currently housed in evacuation centers.

“Ang pagbebentahan po nito ay dadalhin sa pagpapaggawa ng mga deep well sa mga nangangailangan ng maayos na tubig sa evacuation center sa marawi war,” he said in the post.

Padilla has been posting updates on his social media accounts about the situation in Mindanao and is one of the most vocal celebrities in giving victims messages of hope and peace.

Padilla is not the first celebrity to extend help to the victims of Marawi crisis. In June, actress Angel Locsin visited several evacuation centers to hand out food packs and school supplies while singer and National Youth Commission (NYC) chair Aiza Seguerra serenaded displaced families in an evacuation in Lanao del Sur in July.

The people should let the people in government now know that we are in a state of Revolution. Forgiveness and imprisonment is no longer the penalty for corruption. Addiction has many faces…. stealing from the poor is the gravest sin that a man can do! The bible ,the quran and the torah agrees with this.

ABS-CBN actress Angel Locsin has reached out to families displaced by the fighting between government forces and Maute militants in Marawi City.

Locsin joined members of the Rural Missionaries of the Philippines (RMP) in distributing food packs and school supplies to evacuees at the Maahad Abdul Hamid, according to the Inquirer.

The evacuation center is sheltering 283 individuals.

RMP-Northern Mindanao Region and Kalinaw Mindanao posted photos of Locsin wearing a hijab and interacting with evacuees in Baloi, Lanao del Norte.

“[Locsin] went around other nearby evacuation centers to check on their situation as well. She will later on be visiting another evacuation center to join the evacuees for Iftar,” the Inquirer quoted RMP as saying.

The group said it will distribute 300 relief packs donated by the Kapamilya star at an evacuation center in Iligan on Saturday.

Music truly comforts the soul.

National Youth Commission (NYC) Chairperson Aiza Seguerra showed solidarity with the victims of Marawi crisis through music.

The singer and former child actress visited the displaced families on Saturday in an evacuation center in the municipality of Saguiran in Lanao del Sur.

Seguerra was seen hugging and listening to the stories of the evacuees who had been forced to leave their city for their safety amid the clash between Maute forces and government troops in Marawi City.

The public official serenaded the evacuees with her rendition of Yeng Constantino’s “Hawak Kamay” and Amy Nobleza’s “Sana”.

“Sa nangyayari po, minsan nakikita natin na parang walang pag-asa, pero naniniwala po ako na hanggat may kinabukasan may pag-asa,” Seguerra said during her performance.

(With all that’s happening, sometimes we feel like there’s no hope. But I believe that as long as there’s a future, there is hope.)

Some were in tears while listening and singing along to Seguerra’s performance.

There are 191,685 individuals in Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte evacuation centers, according to the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Crisis Management Committee.

The visit was done in coordination with the ARMM Bureau of Public Information and the ARMM’s Office on the Bangsamoro Youth Affairs.
