Actress Maine Mendoza and actor-politician Arjo Atayde remain together, a representative close to the couple said, dismissing online breakup rumors sparked by Mendoza’s absence at a recent family gathering.
A showbiz representative from the Atayde camp said the speculation is “not true,” clarifying that Mendoza was unable to attend the event due to illness.
The rumors surfaced after netizens noticed the actress was missing from the joint birthday celebration of Atayde’s father, Art Atayde, and sister, Ria Atayde, which circulated on social media.
Videos from the gathering showed Atayde with his family, including his mother Sylvia Sanchez and brother-in-law Zanjoe Marudo, prompting speculation due to Mendoza’s absence.
Despite the rumors, the couple was last seen together in February attending several weddings of friends, including the renewal of vows of Pauleen Luna and Vic Sotto.
Mendoza and Atayde, who tied the knot in a private ceremony in Baguio City in 2023, have recently been under public scrutiny following issues involving the lawmaker, which the actress has publicly addressed in support of her husband.
