Before and after photos of Venezuelan beauty queens circulate on social media

Venezuela has proven to the world that they are definitely a powerhouse when it comes to pageantry.

Pageant fans all over the world are always waiting on who will represent Venezuela in different international beauty pageants as they know that she will be one of the strong contenders.

As fashion guru Carson Kressley said during the Miss Universe 2018 pageant, “Miss Universe without Venezuela is like the Academy Awards without Meryl Streep”.

In fact, out of the Big Four international beauty pageants (Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, and Miss Earth), Venezuela claimed 23 titles and has reputedly won more than any other country.

The country has won seven Miss Universe titles (1979, 1981, 1986, 1996, 2008, 2009, and 2013); six Miss World titles (1955, 1981, 1984, 1991, 1995, and 2011); eight Miss International titles (1985, 1997, 2000, 2003, 2006, 2010, 2015, and 2018); and two Miss Earth titles (2005 and 2013).

In 2018, Venezuela was once again successful in beauty pageants. Sthefany Gutiérrez finished as a second runner up in the Miss Universe 2018 pageant held in Thailand, while Mariem Velazco won the Miss International 2018 title.

However, several photos of the two Venezuelan beauty queens spread on social media after they competed which led many netizens to say that they went under the knife to achieve their flawless looks.

Dr. Froilan Paez, a surgeon who performs aesthetic and functional nasal surgeries, uploaded the past and present photos of Gutiérrez and Velazco.

The photos received mixed reactions from netizens. There were some who said that undergoing surgeries should not be a problem since the beauty queens only want to improve their looks and that it is not really against the competitions’ rules to do such. They also said that doctors should not post photos of their patients in the first place.

However, there were also some who said that having surgeries undermine the purpose of beauty pageants, which is to celebrate a woman’s natural beauty.
