“The project covers designing and constructing three pedestrian bridges to ensure safe pedestrian crossing,” said Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority.
Dubai Marina, one of the busiest districts in the UAE, is used by about 2,300 and 2,000 vehicles during peak season as stated by the Dubai Media Office.
Moreover, about 1,000 people cross the junction to head to the Jumeirah Beach Residence on the weekends. The construction of the footbridge at the Marina aims to heighten the traffic safety of pedestrians in the area.
The footbridge set to erect on King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud Street will link four sides of the hostposts (its western street near the JBR and the entrance of the Marina). According to reports, the bridge will extend up to 65 meters which can accommodate 4,000 people per hour.
The construction of the footbridges are expected to conclude in December 2019.
