Fifty five establishments have been issued sizable fines amounting to Dh20,575 for violation of health laws in Ras Al Khaimah.
This is part of the efforts of RAK’s Public Health Department to crack down on shops that put people’s health on the line for their own personal interests.
RAK’s Public Health Department observes a strict compliance on all health regulations that leave no stone unturned for violators.
More than three hundred investigations were conducted by the department on 1,337 establishments across the emirates, according to Shaimaa Al Tunaiji, the acting manager.
“Up to two cosmetic items and 16 food products were confiscated and destroyed for being found expired or unfit for human consumption,” Khaleej Times quoted Al Tunaiji as saying.
Aside from the 55 establishments fined, 45 shops were also given warnings depending on the severity of the violation.
Seven vehicles were also seized for failure to comply with standards on food and for illegally selling vehicles.
