Sharjah municipality employees and residents can now report any person they see breaking the law through the online app WhatsApp.
The violation reporting is part of the municipality’s “Oyoon Al Baladiyah” or “Municipal Eyes” app launched recently, according to Thabit Al Turaifi, director-general of Sharjah Municipality.
The Oyoon Al Baladiyah is for municipal employees. Residents can report lawbreakers through the other app, called “All of Us Municipality”, which will be launched next year.
The launch of the “Oyoon Al Baladiyah” is in line with the municipality’s effort to improve public service using technology.
WhatsApp is a free online messaging, calling and video calling app that can be used on a mobile phone or desktop computer.
