Brand-new fourth-generation trains were delivered to be used soon by commuters of the Light Rail Transit-1 (LRT-1).
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said the Gen-4 train set can accommodate around 1,300 passengers.

“The state-of-the-art passenger train sets have destination signs up front, digital system, and special areas for wheelchairs making them PWD-friendly,” Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said.
“These trains will be deployed for revenue use on the existing system by next year, after completing safety checks, inspections, required test runs with minimum kilometers, and acceptance tests,” he added.

The DOTr said a total of 120 light rail vehicles—or 30 train sets—from Spain and Mexico are scheduled for delivery until June 2022 to be used for the existing system and the LRT-1 Cavite Extension project. (NM)
