Coronavirus pandemic cases hit 422,000 globally

More than 421,000 people across 194 countries and territories all over the world have contracted the novel coronavirus with over 18,900 deaths for the past three months since the outbreak started in Hubei, China.
 
All over the world, leaders call on everyone to stay at home while health workers struggle to battle one of the most dreaded disease in post-World War era.

A real-time interactive map of Johns Hopkins University, culled from governments and global health monitors, showed Italy has recorded the most number of deaths — more than 6,820 around 11:00am Philippine time (7am UAE time). 
 
With registered 69,176 confirmed cases, Italy has 9.8 percent mortality, which is reflective of its older population. The fatality rate globally is around 4.3 percent, according to Reuters. 
 
The number of recovered patients in Italy has yet to catch up, and as of this writing, it is still at 8,326.
 
China is registering more recovering patients, now 73,280 out of 81,591 confirmed cases. A total of 3,281 died, mostly from Hubei province — making the mortality rate at 4 percent.

But the United States has been growing exponentially. For the third day in a row, it reported 11,121 new cases of COVID-19, the most number than any other country in the world.
 
As of this writing, the US has 55,041 positive COVID-19 patients with 790 deaths, mostly from New York state. Ten days ago, on March 14, the number of confirmed patients is at 2,700.
