A former seaman was injured in the Southern port of Zamboanga City due to an explosion.
An initial report from the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) states that the explosion happened on Galvez Drive, Barangay Sta. Maria at about 2:30 p.m. Friday while Ley Sanchez, a 40-year-old former seaman, was injured due to the explosion.
Sanchez’ neighbors told the authorities that they suddenly heard a loud explosion while the victim was making a bonfire on a vacant lot just across his residence.
The former seaman suffered multiple injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. An old bicycle was also destroyed, the authorities added.
Col. Thomas Joseph Martir, ZCPO director, ordered the investigators to look into all possibilities to determine the kind of explosive which was used.
Last January 30, 2019, A grenade was thrown inside a mosque, killing at least 2 and wounding 4 others. The attack took place while Muslim religious leaders were resting.
