Bingbong Crisologo set free

DEVELOPING: Hours left before the poll precincts officially close, Quezon City mayoral bet Vincent “Bingbong” Crisologo has secured a release order from the Quezon City Prosecutor’s office Monday afternoon.

The inquest resolution released by city prosecutors stated that Crisologo’s warrantless arrest was not justified and solid proof must be presented.

The resolution also orders the release of 23 others including his son Edrix who were arrested together with Crisologo for alleged vote-buying activities in a house in Barangay Bahay Toro, Quezon City.

“The evidence is presently unclear that the crime of vote buying and vote selling took place,” the resolution read.

“As to the complaint obstruction of justice, unjust vexation, direct assault, grave coercion… the circumstances surrounding the incident have to be threshed out more thoroughly in the full blown preliminary investigation,” the resolution further stated.

Police report says Crisologo had an altercation with authorities and resisted the arrest.

Crisologo vehemently denied all accusations pressed against him.

Crisologo, currently the congressman of Quezon City’s 1st District, is running for mayor against Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte. He is running under the banner of President Rodrigo Duterte’s PDP-Laban.
