Purchasing items in Abu Dhabi using credit card will cost lesser now.
Abu Dhabi’s Economic Development Department has ordered all commercial facilities in the emirate to refrain from collecting additional fees on credit card transactions.
The decision issued by the higher committee for consumer protection of Abu Dhabi Economic Development Department aimed after the department deemed the practice as illegal.
Any establishment in Abu Dhabi caught charging additional fees in a credit card transaction for the first time will receive a warning from the authorities; a fine of Dh4,000 for the second violation; Dh6,000 for the third violation, and Dh8,000 for the fourth violation.
