A rematch between Filipino boxing hero Manny Pacquiao and unbeaten American fighter Floyd Mayweather will be a blockbuster hit, said boxing legend Sugay Ray Leonard.
Leonard said that even if the two fighters are already in their 40s, boxing fans would still love to see them duke it out in the ring.
“It’d be a great fight. Put it this way, it should be done. People will watch it,” Leonard in said when interviewed by TMZ.
Mayweather defeated Pacquiao in their first meeting but Leonard said that duel was different since the Filipino boxer fought with an injured right shoulder.
“When I was 40, I came back and I don’t know who was the guy. I don’t care who was the guy. But you have a different state in your life, spiritually, physically, mentally,” Leonard said.
Mayweather has decided to retire while Pacquiao remains active.
Leonard was even impressed with Pacquaio’s victory over Keith Thurman.
“Manny looked phenomenal in his last fight,” Leonard said.
