Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo announced Wednesday that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has signed the proclamation officially declaring Naga City as a highly urbanized city.
Robredo revealed the development during the 68th birth anniversary commemoration of late former mayor Jesse Robredo at the Naga Civic Center along Taal Avenue.
The mayor said she received confirmation from Malacañang regarding the signed proclamation.
“Pinirmahan na ni Presidente si Proclamation na highly urbanized city na an Naga,” Robredo said.
[Translation: The President has already signed the proclamation declaring Naga as a highly urbanized city.]
Robredo emphasized that the milestone was the result of the collective efforts of the local government and the people of Naga.
The city earlier met the required income and population thresholds needed for highly urbanized city status.
On Jan. 27, the 15th Sangguniang Panlungsod passed Resolution No. 2026-078 formally requesting Malacañang to declare Naga as a highly urbanized city.
