US Federal Court rules vs Trump’s Muslim travel ban

Another U.S. Federal Court has ruled against President Donald Trump’s revised executive order banning Muslims from six countries from entering the country.

Three judges of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously ruled against the travel ban ordered in February saying Trump overstepped his authority.

The judges, citing Trump’s tweet, said the President referred to the countries as dangerous and not the 180 million people of those countries targeted by his executive order.

The ruling affirmed US District Court Judge Derrick Watson’s ruling in March that the revised executive order is unconstitutional for disfavoring Muslims. Last month, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals also shot down the travel ban on constitutional grounds.

US Attorney General Jeff Sessions said the Department of Justice will continue to seek the Supreme Court’s review of the rulings.

“The President is committed to protecting the American people and our national security, and we are proud to support his mission to put America first by defending his right to keep us safe,” CNN quoted Sessions as saying.
