President Bongbong Marcos hopes that the clean up operations for the oil spill in Oriental Mindoro will be finished not later than four months.
Marcos said that the government will expedite the clean up operations since the areas affected by the spill is lesser than the 2006 oil spill in Guimaras.
Marcos also announced that the Department of Labor and Employment and the Department of Social Work and Development to implement a cash for work program for affected fisherfolks
“’Yung mga mangingisda hindi makapangisda ngayon, bawal mangisda kaya’t wala silang hanapbuhay, pinalitan natin ng cash-for-work program dahil sila ngayon ang maglilinis at binabantayan namin ng husto lahat,” he said.
Marcos said that they are closely monitoring the impact of oil spill especially in marine protected areas and tourist sites.
