WhatsApp users in the UAE will soon notice two new features that will be implemented – the “Forwarding Info” and the “Frequently Forwarded” features.
Forwarding Info
The “Forwarding Info” feature lists how many times the message has been passed around. In a photo tested by the WhatsApp Beta Info team, the image shows that the message was forwarded once – the team likewise notes that this is available for sent messages only.
A workaround as of the latest beta test to know how many times a received message has been forwarded is to forward the message yourself and check the latest count in your own Message info.
Frequently Forwarded
Once a message has been forwarded more than 4 times, a new tag will appear with a different text and icon. Instead of just “forwarded”, the new text will be “frequently forwarded”.
WhatsApp apparently added the feature for the users to learn how ‘popular’ the message is on the messaging platform. Another possible function is to detect possible spam or incorrect information being passed around.
Those who have recently updated their WhatsApp versions may see bits and bytes of this new feature – but these wouldn’t work as of now as it’s still under development.
WhatsApp is expected to make an announcement once they are ready to go live with the two new features.
