Presumptive president Bongbong Marcos is set to appoint his campaign manager and former MMDA chairman Benhur Abalos as new Interior and Local Government Secretary.
Lawyer Vic Rodriguez made the announcement in a press briefing on Friday.
“For the transition team, I would also like to announce that chairman Benhur Abalos has been nominated to lead the Department of the Interior and Local Government and he has accepted the challenged to lead the DILG,” he said.
The Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and the Bureau of Fire Protection are the attached agencies under the DILG.
The DILG is also responsible in helping the President to supervise local government units.
