Mocha Uson to NBI: Fake news post an 'honest mistake'

Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Deputy Administrator Mocha Uson on Monday told the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) that her “fake news” Facebook post was an honest mistake.
Uson went to NBI to explain her use of a photo from SM Foundation in a Facebook post about the Department of Health’s purchase of 15,000 sets of PPEs, reported GMA News.
To recall, she was issued a subpoena by the cybercrime division of NBI, compelling her to submit an affidavit about the alleged fake news.
During her interview with NBI on Monday, Uson said that she only meant to inform the public about the government’s efforts to protect frontliners amid the coronavirus spread.
“Kaya nga du’n sa post ko, nai-share ko ‘yung good news na mayroong ginagawang aksiyon ang gobyerno na mag-provide ng PPEs sa ating mga frontliners,” she said.
“Nagkamali lang, honest mistake ‘yung sa photo,” Uson added.
She said that she immediately issued an erratum on her Facebook page to rectify the error.
The NBI cybercrime division said they will wait for Uson’s affidavit for evaluation.
