The Philippines’ number of new cases for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) doubled in the past 24 hours with 285 new cases compared to yesterday’s 102 cases – as the country’s total tally has reached 7,579 confirmed patients who tested positive for the disease.
Seven patients have also been reported to have died from the disease, as the country’s death toll rises to 501.
The number of recoveries also soared with 70 new patients who have fully recovered, with the total now at 862.
President Rodrigo Duterte recently approved the extension of enhanced community in Metro Manila and areas deemed high-risk for transmission of COVID-19 until May 15 as the country’s ongoing measure to prevent further transmission of COVID-19 continues for the benefit of the public.
The president has also increased the reward that now amounts to Php50 million, for the Filipino who will discover a vaccine for COVID-19.
