Sharjah Police has employed helicopters as part of the force’s intensified inspection campaign to thwart attempts of private companies from illegally transporting workers from Sharjah to other emirates.
Major-General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of the Sharjah Police, launched the air surveillance system in coordination with the Air Wing Department at the General Department of Security Support in the Ministry of Interior (MOI).
Sharjah has recently banned the movement of workers from and to other emirates to curb the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The campaign is part of the Sharjah Police’s keenness to ensure the safety and well-being of the citizen and residents during the global health crisis.
Al Shamsi said the choppers will monitor the movement of workers, service buses along the highway and roads to guarantee that private companies are adhering to the movement restrictions.
Al Sajjaa and industrial areas in the emirate will also be closely monitored and checkpoints will be installed at Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road, Emirates Road, Ittihad street, and Al Sajjaa area.
