The Department of Education (DepEd) said that it is planning to use information communication technology (ICT) platforms, television, and radio in delivering lectures for the next school year amid coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
In a report by Rappler, DepEd Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan said that they are planning to use various approaches of learning school year 2020 to 2021 to ensure the safety of the students.
“Tinitingnan namin na maaaring magkaroon ng pagkakaiba–iba sa iba’t–ibang lugar ng Pilipinas. May ibang mga lugar na mas maaaring maging maluwag ang movement ng mga tao. May mga lugar naman na hindi posible ang classroom-based instructions. Tinitingnan natin ang ICT platforms saka ang telebisyon at saka radyo,” the Undersecretry said in an interview on DZMM.

For now, Malaluan said the department is forming a Learning Continuity Plan that will tackle various modes of delivering lessons. It will be presented to the government task force on the first week of May.
The Plan will also include the results of the survey regarding the opening of classes, which they conducted to students, parents, and teachers.
“Kaya nga nagkaroon ng survey ay gusto naming makita ang pulso ng mga mag-aaral at mga magulang at ibang mga guro natin sa mga panukalang ‘yan, just as input bilang we are dealing with the planning now,” Malaluan said.
The Undersecretary also said that DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones will announce the school opening in the coming week, and that they are considering doing the graduation rites online.
