A bakery worker who was caught in a video spitting in the bread dough tested negative for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Major-General Sheikh Sultan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ajman Police, said the 34-year-old Asian worker underwent COVID-19 test and the swab test results confirmed that he was negative for the disease.
Ajman Police arrested the Asian worker, whose name and nationality were withheld, last Saturday.
The bakery where he works was shut due to violations of health and hygiene protocols.
Al Nuaimi said the case has been referred to the public prosecution.
Meanwhile, the local Crisis and Disaster Management Team issued an order requiring owners of restaurants and bakeries across the emirate to install surveillance cameras in the baking area to ensure that food hygiene and public health were followed during food preparation.
