'Side niyo ang nag-leak ng kopya' – Vico Sotto slams NBI for politicizing subpoena

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto fired back at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) which has said the issuance of subpoena to him was highly politicized and sensationalized.
Sotto tweeted Thursday that it was the agency that dragged the issue to the mainstream media by leaking a copy of the letter.

“According to NBI Deputy Dir. Lavin, the issue has been “politicized & sensationalized.” I agree,” he said.
“But with all due respect sir, please stop and think why it reached this point: Side niyo ang nag-leak ng kopya ng sulat sa reporter. Nagpa-receive tao niyo sa opis ko, may kasama pang media.”

In an interview with ABS-CBN News earlier, NBI deputy director Ferdinand Lavin said that the investigation over the alleged violation of Sotto on quarantine rules was “politicized and sensationalized.”
“This is an invitation, not a subpoena, Hindi lang naman ito kay Mayor Sotto. Medyo na-politicize lang ito, na-sensationalize,” he said.
Sotto was summoned by the NBI for allowing tricycle drivers to ply their routes in Pasig City despite the existing public transport ban.
Support for the local chief executive last night trended on social media platforms with hashtag #ProtectVicoSotto reached the top trending topics worldwide.
In a separate tweet, Sotto thanked everyone who showed their support for him.

“Thank you all for your overwhelming support. Ngunit wag na po sanang gamitin ang isyu na ‘to para sa politika,” he tweeted.
“Panahon po ngayon ng krisis. Mula barangay hanggang nasyonal, kailangan maganda ang pakikipag-ugnayan.”
