Hong Kong authorities on February 5 quarantined 1800 passengers and crew on board a cruise ship that originated from Wuhan, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus outbreak.
The city’s health department said they conducted tests after some of the crew members reported having fever and other symptoms.
They also found out that three mainland Chinese who had been on board on the ship between January 19 and 24 tested positive for novel coronavirus, reported Reuters.
Health authorities added that the majority of the passengers were Hong Kongers and no mainland Chinese were on board.
All passengers and crew are not permitted to leave the ship without approval from Hong Kong’s Health Department.
The cruise ship, World Dream, docked in Hong Kong after it was barred from disembarking in the southern Taiwan port of Kaohsiung on February 5.
